Q4 2019 China Macro Data Recap

China’s economic growth slowed to a three-decade low of 6.1% in 2019, and there was limited evidence of rebalancing away from investment and export-led growth. Trade performance improved in December, largely due to base effects and the early Chinese New Year holiday, while the economy confronts more fundamental challenges in 2020: weak credit demand, growing stress within the financial system, deflationary pressures, and an imbalanced property market.
