October 2018 Macro Data Recap

China’s economic growth showed the first signs of stabilization in October after industrial production (+5.9% y/y) and investment (+5.7% ytd) were both higher than market expectations. However, the pickup in growth was very modest despite monetary easing steps throughout 2018, and both base effects and calendar effects boosted the data, rather than a strong surge in activity.
