Finally, Some PBOC Communication

The Chinese central bank is trying to improve the transparency of its open market operations (OMO) this year by providing comments more frequently, particularly concerning the coordination of its efforts with trends in fiscal spending from the Ministry of Finance.  These OMO-related messages have provided some insight among market participants into the PBOC’s calculations in its regular operations, reducing volatility of money market rates since the PBOC started its new communications tactic.
